Derrick the Donkey is a fully rigged quadruped that includes a facial rig, stretchy joints with volume preservation options, FK/IK functionalities, and a three bone rear IK leg with built in compression deformation.

​Since this rig was going to be imported into the Unity Engine for a Disney Research project, I constructed a version of the rig to feature all the necessary components to work within the game engine. A feature version of this rig includes more deformation techniques to create even more appeal for the character. This character has a lot of personality, so I particularly had a lot of fun constructing the facial rig to emote his feelings. I added in auto soft follow eyelids to create a natural deformation when animating the eyes, and gave the animator multiple options for bringing the upper and bottom lips to life. 

These are examples of the node connections I set up for this rig. I incorporated auto stretch for the legs, neck, and spine with volume preservation.
