This little guy was a rig I developed for a Disney Research interactive experience. Since the rig needed to run in the Unity engine, I spent a lot of effort making sure it contained all the necessary features to run properly while still being robust for animation. This character had a lot of jumping motions in particular, so I implemented an array of custom foot rolling attributes and auto stretch functionality to provide the animators with several options. The face is also rigged with a combination of blendshape and joint-based techniques. I especially placed a lot of emphasis on the eyes, constructing a rigging system that allows for soft eyelid deformation whenever the gaze moves, as well as upper and lower lid blinking and widening.
