Bee Rig - Designed for Video Game Production
I built this Bee rig initially for a Disney Research augmented reality project, where it's main purpose was to fly around the audience. It has since been replaced in the project by my Tinker Bell rig, but this bee rig is still usable for both video game and movie productions. The rig was designed with the intention of working within the unity game engine and as a result, it is very user friendly. Using primarily FK features, the rig is simple yet effective in terms of performance.
Each part of the bee's body is capable of animating , from its head down to its many legs. The wings and antenna have many controls to move individual parts for detail, in addition to having a single control that creates a curling effect. I constructed these curling controls to allow the animator the ability to easily achieve overlapping action. Furthermore, the animator is capable of setting each leg to follow the body or stay in place.
